The Reality of Applying the Standards of Governance in Palestinian Non-Governmental Hospitals and Its Impact on Their Performance in Hebron Governorate: A Case Study of Al-Mizan and Al-Ahly Hospitals

The study aims at identifying the reality of applying the standards of governance in Palestinian non-governmental hospitals and its impact on their performance in Hebron Governorate: a case study of Al-Mizan and Al-Ahly hospitals. The study approached the literature as a multi-dimensional phenomenon, which addressed both theoretical and applied research. The significance of this recent study is the first, which dealt with this theme, to the author knowledge, which in turn encourages other researchers to work on further research on this important issue.

To achieve this end, the study adopted the quantitative research approach using the survey method. A 66-item questionnaire is appropriate for the exploratory nature of the research. The survey comprised of a (216) males and females participants between the providers and the service recipients in the two hospital using the systematic random sampling during 2019/2020. The collected data was statistically analyzed using the statistical package for social sciences (SPSS).

The study findings revealed that the reality of applying the standards of governance in Palestinian non-governmental hospitals were high (M 3.68 SD 0.56), and their performance level were high as well (M 3.67 SD 0.61).

The study results revealed statistical positive correlation between applying the standards of governance in Palestinian non-governmental hospitals and their performance in Hebron Governorate.
These findings confirm the value of governance on increasing performance in the Palestinian non-governmental hospitals at Hebron Governorate, and recommend the non-governmental hospitals must commit to applying the standards of governance in their various operations to sustain the development of their performance, the need to work to raise awareness of the standards of health and clinical management governance among hospital personnel and the Palestinian public, the necessity, the need to work on drafting a code for hospital governance in Palestine and evaluation of hospitals by official and competent regulatory authorities based on their application, with importance given to standards of accountability and integrity, and to activate the incentive systems for workers, which would reduce manifestations of corruption and violations.
